Photography Tips: Shooting Seagulls
1. Leave early in the morning. Gulls to eat generally clustered around 07.00 until 09.00.
2. By leaving early, you also get excellent lighting and the sea surface was bumpy.
3. Use ISO 100 or as low as possible because your photo will be cropped very drastic.
4. DSLR cameras that use time-lag is low, aka camera fast reaction. Best lens used is the range 300 mm to 500 mm. Narrow opening is not very useful because the depth of field remains thin.
5. Find hordes of gulls consisting of 10-30 birds. Seagulls while eating clustered fairly easy to photograph and not fear boats approached to within about 10 meters.
6. After finding hordes of seagulls, you simply follow the bird until he dived to grab a fish. Once the bird has left the water, can or can not fish, you should concentrate on the next bird.
7. In general, autofocus system with continuous mode is capable of chasing a seagull movement because there is a very good contrast. Color white gull, blue background.
